• Drive to Gobustan National Park / Rock Art Cultural Landscape.
  • See the ancient petroglyphs and archaeological landscape. Gobustan contains thousands of rock engravings dating back many thousands of years and is UNESCO-listed.

• Mud volcanoes, subject to road/weather conditions.
  • Return toward Baku.

• Return to Baku.
  • Free evening for shopping, cafés or a relaxed dinner.

Tip: A private car/day tour is much more convenient for Gobustan and the mud volcanoes than trying to combine public transport.

• Visit Ateshgah Fire Temple, associated with Azerbaijan's historic fire-worship heritage.
  • Continue to Yanardag (Burning Mountain), where natural gas flames emerge from the hillside. Ateshgah and Yanardag are among Baku's major cultural attractions.

• Return to central Baku.
  • Visit the spectacular Heydar Aliyev Centre, designed by architect Zaha Hadid.
  • Spend some time around the building for photographs.

Evening

• Final shopping around Nizami Street/Fountain Square.
  • Enjoy a traditional Azerbaijani dinner.

For a casual meal around Nizami Street, Caravan Baku is one option; in the Old City, Qala Divari is another.
